Tank Integrity Testing
Steel aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) are susceptible to degradation from internal and external corrosion and stress due to climate and settling. Various regulations, including the EPA's updated SPCC Rule (40CFR112), now require periodic integrity testing of storage tanks to ensure their continued reliability. Resolve's certified inspectors conduct internal and external integrity testing in accordance with the Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001: Standard for the Inspection of Above Ground Tanks, and the American Petroleum Institiute (API) API 653: Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration and Reconstruction Standard.
Resolve has performed tank integrity tests at DOD facilities, manufacturing plants, industrial wastewater plants, and oil terminals. AST inspectors oversee ultrasonic thickness and magnetic flux studies of tank shells and floors and conduct a thorough examination of past inspection records, manufacturing specs, foundations, supports, secondary containment, spill control, and continuous release detection methods, ancillary equipment, bonding and grounding systems, stairways, handrails, and platforms, coating, shell thickness and condition, welds, attachments, and the tank roof. Resolve prepares and certifies comprehensive reports to document each tank inspection, identify future tank testing intervals and, if necessary, provide recommended corrective actions.
